Ah, these are the smaller things!

Some of them are games, some of them are not, and all of them are endearing~

Localization works

World of Goo 2

World of Goo 2 is a physics-based puzzle game, the long-awaited sequel to the original World of Goo, released in 2008 by 2D Boys.

Through connecting with the studio’s producer, Mr. Ron Camel, and a bit of bold self-recommendation, I have been offered the unique opportunity to work as a specialist for the game’s simplified Chinese localization in a four-person team.

Within our team, I was mainly tasked with a rough pass translation for all in-game text and then overseeing and determining difficult and/or complicated translation entries, especially those with puns, rhymes, and obscure references that are crucial but tough to translate.

If you haven’t played World of Goo 2 yet, I strongly recommend that you try it out now. Not just because of how good of a game it is but also because you can see its witty writings. And hopefully, if you can read Chinese, the gooey-ness of our localization would come through and leave a smile on your face.

A 3D model

Marquise de Cat Model

Do you like Leder Games’ ROOT: A Game of Woodland Might and Right? I’m a big fan.

For that reason, I made a Marquise de Cat warrior model as the final project of my 3D modeling for games class.

Going beyond the requirements, I not only modeled the body and painted the texture but also went a few steps further to create a custom toon shader for the cel-shaded-like quality and rigged the body myself.

It may not be the prettiest model you’ve seen, but personally speaking, I’ll rate it an 8 out of 10 for replicating the art style of ROOT and faithfully translating them into 3D. And after posting it in Woodland Warriors, the official discord server for the game, I was glad to find out many people think the same as well!

A game about raining

Overcast!

Overcast! is a simple game in which players control a cloud to extinguish fire by raining on them in a small arena. It was a one-week, single-person project for my Major Studio Fall course with the theme of “different forms of water” in mind.

I am the sole creator of Overcast! Except for the 3D assets and music. Credits go to Synty Polygon for making the models and Stijn Van Wakaren for the music.
